AW : Audience Feedback
We asked the same five people we
addressed in our initial music video to watch our final video and look at our
print work and this was the feedback which they gave us. We, again, used
facebook messenger to send and receive our responses.
This question was repeated from the
first questionnaire, just so that we could check the value and relevance of
each response with comparison to audience preference.
What genre of music most appeals
to you?
Lawrence Evans
Rap/Hip-hop
Felix Page

Vince Firth

Keir Burbidge

What are three words that
immediately come into your head after watching the video?
Lawrence Evans
Funny, ghetto, real
Felix Page
Different, retro, happy
Vince Firth
Fast, funny, british
Keir Burbidge
Rap, money, street
Nat McKerlie
Fun, happy, relatable
Is
the story and what is happening easy to understand?
Lawrence Evans
He has been through a break up,
was all the stuff about him shopping, like him trying to get over the girl?
(yes) oh well then yes I do understand
Felix Page
I dont know how much I would have
understood if the music wasnt there, the subject of the song definitely helps
me in understanding that hes trying to get over his old girlfriend.
Vince Firth
I think so, I didnt really get the
end bit where he was playing basketball, but I got that he went through a
break up.
Keir Burbidge
Yeah it was very clear, especially
with the song in the background as the story was similar to what was being
sung about.
Nat McKerlie
Yeah I did, he's been through a
break up and was rapping to try and get over her.
Is the artists performance
convincing to you, and why?
Lawrence Evans
He had a certain 'rap' look about
him I suppose, it was a good choice of actor, he looks like Mikill Pane
aswell.
Felix Page
As an artist I thought the acting
was convincing, he had a lot of charisma however some parts seemed slightly
out of sync or he didn’t quite know the words, I couldn’t tell which.
Vince Firth
Since I know the actor it was a
bit odd for me seeing him star in a music video but he was actually a very
good actor so I'd say yes.
Keir Burbidge
I think he was convinging enough
but could have been better, in some of the shots he looked quite bored.
Nat McKerlie
Yeah, im a big fan of Mikill Pane
and the actor did the job really well, all the references to trainers and
humour are just like something he would actually do.
Could you watch the video again
without getting bored?
Lawrence Evans
I think I could, its definetly
more exciting than some of the other a level videos ive watched, theyre all a
bit to artsy and slow for me, this is a nice change
Felix Page
I don’t know, I found myself
getting slightly bored during the parts between the singing, but I could
watch the singing parts again definetly!
Vince Firth
I only started noticing the stuff
like when he was in the bed, and the bottle of vanish halfway through. Ive
already watched it twice because I missed all those funny bits the first time
round, like the bit outside tescos was about tescos.
Keir Burbidge
I probably could, I did think the
bit without john in were qite long and boring, didn’t really seem like a
Mikill Pane song after a while
Nat McKerlie
Yeah I could, the camera is always
moving so it feels like something is always going on which doesn’t make it
boring and kind of makes me want to watch it again.

Group: Progress update
We filmed our footage at Alex's house which was our final location, this footage is now in our timeline and Alex and Sam are in the process of editing this footage, while Adam is working on some after effects techniques using a tracking footage effect.
In terms of our progress with editing, our timeline is fully filled and even 'overflowing' so we are able to increase our cutting rate very easily at the moment. We are in the position of being able to choose only the shots that we like and not really needing to find shots to put in. We still need to refine some of our clips to ensure they cut at the correct time. We have some subtle work to do on ensuring the lip syncing is perfectly in time but this should hopefully not take too long.
Adam has nearly finished his work on after effects which has been very time consuming and 'fiddly'. Once Adam has completed the footage manipulation in after effects we can put this in to our time line and it will be fully filled and very nearly fully edited.
All of our print work is now finished however we will have a look at each others individual print work to see if we think there are any improvements to be made.

Group : Progress update
After filming some more footage we now believe we have everything we need in order to put our video together. Alex has begun to edit our main project and put the recent footage onto our timeline, however we still have a bit more footage to incorporate which we need to take of off the SD card we filmed on. Sam has been editing some footage for the beginning of our production, which uses a stop motion effect to show the name of the artist and track to be implemented at the beginning of the track, where as I have been editing clips in preparation for after effects. In terms of our current progress on after effects we have managed to finish the basic concept, however now we just need to recreate it with a number of different pieces of moving footage which our artist will be holding.

Group : Progress update
- During todays lesson I have begun to edit some of the footage for production. I have incorporated one of our stop motion techniques into the footage through using a tracking motion on after effects software.
- Furthermore, we have also progressed in our editing today, as we were able to assess our qualitative feedback from the rough cut in order to improve aspects of our production.
- We have also begun to plan shots for our shoot which will take place tomorrow, as well as put up the call sheet and risk assessment ready in advance.
AW: Printwork digipack
Firstly I got my original image which was a screenshot from our project
I then added a motion blur of 12 pixels
Before pasting over a layer of light effects, and setting it to a hard light blend at 70% opacity
I also added a gradient map below this, at 80% opacity and hard light filter
I adjusted the curves at this point as the image was getting unclearer and darker the more layers I added over the top
I also added a large triangle of yellow into the top corner, and set it to 'lighten' blend mode as this corner of the image looked very bland, and it also added a different colour other then the red and blues we were using already.
This then gave us our final picture which we used as a panel on the back pane of our digipack
we also repeated a similar process with two other images, using different blurs, blend modes and gradient maps to create slightly different effects
